A lot of you are probably wondering why I am calling myself "The Old Fart" and have a Homepage called "Welcome to Old Fart Productions" (See link under My Other Blogs and Goodies).

When I started in the field as a 35mm Film Projectionist some of the concession staff {at the last Cinema I worked in } weren't even born yet. In fact back in 2003 I was the oldest member of the staff at the age of 43. In true Ernest Hemingway form, instead of being "The Old Man and the Sea", I became "The Old Fart of the Theatre" to quote one Manager..

And as they say "The Rest Is History"

Quilldancing Assignment #2

Our "Quilly" has come up with a Fantastic Meme and instead of me trying to explain it, I'll let our Dear Quilly put it in Her Own Words.

I thought I’d start the year off by launching a new feature! I’ve been missing 3WT but not all the work involved. I thought I would try for something a bit more manageable that didn’t require hours of research.

Your Writing Assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to write a complete story in 500 words or less using the scenario below to kick-start your thinking. Publish your story on your blog February 15th, then come back here and link it to my February 15th story.

I have twelve writing assignments ready, one for the first day of every month. Every month! The stories are due on the 15th, even in April! (For anyone feeling skeptical, my January story is already written, and I won’t post a prompt I don’t already have a story for.)

Here's The Prompt:

February is the month of love. Your prompt required only that you write a love story. Fashion it as you will, and remember there are many kinds of love.

As soon as I saw this I knew I'd have some fun with it. It would be a way for me to keep the continuing story of my Blanche going after Portrait of Words was discontinued.

PS, Those of you unfamiliar with my Continuing Story of Blanche MacNaughton ~ duVet and her family can acquaint themselves with the story in my Portrait of Words for which you can "Visit Here" and get yerself caught up. I would suggest you find your way to the very first entry and work your way back, as my Portrait of Words had a continuing Story. Something like those old Matinee Movie Serials of oh so long ago. If you so desire, you can "Visit Here" and start at the very first entry.

Here's My Entry.

It was 14 February, Blanche was returning from the door with the Dozen Assorted Lupins Hector had delivered. Blanche had a strange taste in flowers, and preferred the Wild Flowers that grew than the commercially grown ones.

Getting back to her reclining chair with the heat and the massaging fingers she plopped herself down into it and resumed watching “Random Harvest”. Blanche enjoyed both Ronald Colman and Greer Garson, and remembered watching a Midnight Revival Showing of it in the Roxy the night Frankie took her to see it.

It was sitting in the Balcony with Frankie when Cousin Bertnam passed them on his way to the Projection Room. He stopped for a second to talk to them and was happy that Blanche finally found the Love of her life, only if he would be so lucky. The life of being a Movie Projectionist, one didn’t have much of a social life.

Blanche knew that Bertnam was lonely, and resolved to do something about it. She talked to Frankie, as well as her sister Bernice about it. They all thought of ways to see about hooking Bertnam up with someone and meeting Miss Right.

Blanche’s Mother Hortense always used to say “When one least expects it, this is when something happens”. This is what happed to Bertnam, one night he was finished work. He stopped in at his favorite all night diner where he met Muriel. She was a new fry cook at the diner. They hit is off and after the first visit, Bertnam stopped in every night after work.

Muriel finished work about the same time Bertnam did, and on her days off, Bertnam would sneak Muriel into the Projection Room and she’d watch the films from as Bertnam called it “The Best Seat in the House”.

The romance flourished, Bertnam and Muriel as the Villagers said, was a “Match Made in Heaven”, or at the All Night Diner. Blanche figured the 8 kids they had also helped cement the idea that they were in love. She was happy for them, what was that old saying “The Longer the Wait………….”

Blanche’s cell phone is prompting her that she has a text waiting. It is Mitchell, he and Sasha are in town and they want to take Blanche and Hector out on a special Supper. Little does Blanche realise, this is a Family Reunion of sorts. Not only will they be there, but Bernice and Sébastien, Byong-Soon and Graeme as well as PrimRose and Guido.

The St Elmira Ballroom was being rented for the evening and there would be food and drink for all to enjoy. This was going to be the best 14 February that Blanche enjoyed in years. She was glad that Hector came back into her life. Somehow she knew Frankie approved.

All was right with the World and Blanche had her family around. She knew that this Valentines Day would be one of the Best Ever. Yes this was going to be a Happy Day.

Into Paradise......................May the Angels lead you.

God Bless

I read this this morning on Google Reader and tried to tell you how much I liked it, but it wasn't up on our blog yet! Google does that sometimes.

This is a great story as Blanche thinks about the people they love while they quietly plan a surprise get together for her.
