A lot of you are probably wondering why I am calling myself "The Old Fart" and have a Homepage called "Welcome to Old Fart Productions" (See link under My Other Blogs and Goodies).

When I started in the field as a 35mm Film Projectionist some of the concession staff {at the last Cinema I worked in } weren't even born yet. In fact back in 2003 I was the oldest member of the staff at the age of 43. In true Ernest Hemingway form, instead of being "The Old Man and the Sea", I became "The Old Fart of the Theatre" to quote one Manager..

And as they say "The Rest Is History"

About This Blog

Just a few rantings from a 'Half Century' "Old Fart". What you will be reading here will not change the world, or have any profound effect on anyone or anything. It is just a place for me to share a thing or two and hopefully give you a break from the day to day toils and troubles of life.

An Update

Sorry I haven't been around much lately, just don't have the ambition to come and post. It seems lately that I only post on Sunday Afternoon my Microfiction Monday. I haven't been in that great of Spirits for awhile now. Lately is seems that when I get one step forward, I have to make three steps back.

I do take over my apartment next weekend, it is a beautiful little place in Kitchener, about a 25 minute walk to my new job. This will save on gas and wear n' tear on the car. I am almost Downtown and just a stone's throw to Victoria Park, where one can take a walk or just to go and have a sit and watch the ducks and swans.

The cats are going to love the place. The Living Room and Balcony off of the Kitchen overlook the Street. The Bathroom and the Bedroom as well as the Living Room have big windows, and I can see Alexander spending a lot of time here. There are also large closets and cupboards that the lads can hide in.

My Landlord who owns the house is really nice. He lives on the Main Floor and has turned the 1928 house's Upstairs into two apartments. He also has a third apartment above the garage. We hit it off as soon as we met, I know I am going to enjoy living here.

Winter is here in a Vengeance, but I am not minding it or the cold. I guess I am used to the -30 and 40's Celsius on the Prairie. I think the coldest it got here was -20 something Celsius, but with the damp humid air it feels like the -30 something dry temperature of Calgary.

Not all that much more to tell. I am starting my third week of Call Center Training for a National Cell Phone company. The job is almost a carbon copy of the old job I had with the Cable Company I used to have. Here there doesn't seem to be that much tolerance for Mistakes. The turnover rate for people is great here, and folks who have only been here six months to a year seem to be the senior people. Well I guess when you only pay min wage you get what you pay for.

I am still actively looking for that perfect job, and I have had responses to some applications already. One place is working with Seniors, and where I have my Back Ground Check with the Police already completed and returned, they want to interview me.

This is the kind of job I want, helping with the Seniors and such. I cannot describe it but I have such a internal peace come over me when I am helping them. Whether it is shoveling their walks, taking them on their errands, driving them somewhere, this is where I know I need to concentrate.

I still have my part time job which is on call working for a Moving Company. I get to drive the truck and move the things. It is a good job and the folks who own the company are really nice, but right now the work is scant so I had to take this other job. When they get busier they say they will have lots of work, so I have to be patient.

My Microfiction is set to post in 3 hrs. Just wanted to make a post to get my friends up to date. I do apologise that I didn't visit anyone last Sunday/Monday and their Microfictions. This last week was crazy busy with the training, and by the time I was done, my Brain was Mush.

below are some photos of my Visit to Victoria Park last September.

Bill;

Love reading your post anytime!
I'm glad that your two flat mates will have new scenery to look at.
Mind are getting tired of the mounds of snow out my door.(so am I)
I also have been else where, not tending to my blog like I should.
But life happens and you have to tend to it... and besides somebody is always here to listen when you pop your head in.

The pics are great and you are such a nice man to think of your cats having a nice view. I know animals get bored and like to look outside. Not many people think about that though :)
